Our first Digital Breakfast in the series will fuel your mind with practical knowledge and opportunities. We will seek to explore how iBeacons can be used to engage your digital visitors, plus, how this technology can be used specifically for your business to raise your sales and improve the visitor experience? We will provide a range of tourism best practices to learn from.
ETOA are partnering with the Digital Tourism Think Tank during the series, to keep you up-to-date on the hottest topics and trends during the summer.
Beaumaris Beacons is a new iPhone and iPad app that uses the latest iBeacon technology from Apple to give visitors a unique experience of the seaside town on Anglesey in North Wales. As they walk around, app users will see the contents change automatically depending on their exact location. It does this by picking up data from 70+ beacons that have been placed in attractions, shops, restaurants, B&Bs and other organisations throughout the town. The app’s content is a mix of cultural, historical, community and tourist information, which when brought together and delivered at the right place at the right time will enable visitors to make the most of their visit. An interesting, real-world iBeacon case study for any town thinking of implementing iBeacon technology for trade and/or tourism. The app was created using the Locly web publishing platform for beacons.
